Akai Bijo Kara is a small, passionate Shikoku kennel based in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. We are proud to be affiliated with the Dutch Kennel Club (Raad van Beheer), the breed club Nippon Inu Nederland, the Nihonken Hozonkai (NIPPO) in Japan, and the Belgian Akitaclub.

 

Our love for the Shikoku lies at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to preserve this beautiful and unique breed while breeding healthy, well-balanced dogs that stay true to the breed standard. All of our dogs are carefully health tested, including screening for genetic diversity, hip and elbow dysplasia, patella luxation, and eye conditions. We put a lot of thought and care into each planned litter, always aiming to contribute positively to the future of the breed.

 

Our puppies are raised in our home, right in the center of our daily lives. They grow up in our living room, surrounded by us, our dogs, and our two cats. This allows them to become familiar with everyday sounds, experiences, and social interactions from a very early age, giving them a strong and confident start in life.
